Compass Group (Australia) has again been recognised for its support of Indigenous initiatives with its supply chain team awarded the Supplier Diversity Advocate of the Year award at the Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council (AIMSC) Connect 2012 event.
The Supplier Diversity Advocate of the Year award recognises ‘individuals within an AIMSC member organisation who have championed supplier diversity and have committed to working in the Indigenous business sector’.
Compass Group’s Executive Director Human Resources – Pacific, George Mifsud said the award win is the result of the great work of Compass Group’s supply chain team in supporting Indigenous suppliers.
“The award is also testament to the success of Compass Group’s broader Indigenous engagement strategy which includes directly employing Indigenous Australians, being actively involved in Joint Venture partnerships benefiting Aboriginal communities and supporting locally based initiatives to build stronger and healthier communities,” said Mr Mifsud.
“Ensuring diversity in our supply chain is an important part of Compass Group’s commitment to improving the participation and engagement of Indigenous Australians in our business and more widely in the corporate community,” he said.
AIMSC is an advocate for the Australian Indigenous business community to facilitate the integration of Indigenous businesses into the supply chain of private sector corporations and Government agencies, and to encourage a prosperous, vibrant and sustainable Indigenous enterprise sector.
