Compass in the Community

Compass is keen to support causes that are important to our people and the communities where we operate.

In addition to our commitment to ‘Closing the Gap’, our Sites regularly support charity events including Pink Hope, Movember, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, World’s Greatest Shave, Blue Shirt Day and RUOK Day. Working in partnership with our mining clients it is also great when our nutritionists have the opportunity to host health and wellbeing sessions in remote communities, often educating school children about good food choices.

Ruggies Recycling

Compass Group’s defence, offshore and remote business, ESS raises funds for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation through it involvement in the Ruggies Recycling program.

Ruggies Recycling raises funds for the charity by collecting and recycling waste from mine sites throughout Western Australia and to date ESS has raised over $150,000. By participating in the Ruggies Recycling scheme, ESS also provides a sustainable alternative to current waste management programs by segregating, crushing and transporting recyclable materials, such as cans, cardboard, plastics and glass. This ultimately reduces the volume of general waste going to landfill whilst also reducing the impact on the environment.

See video to learn more.

ESS is also a partner to Act-Belong-Commit – a health promotion campaign run by Mentally Healthy WA that encourages individuals to take action to protect and promote their own mental wellbeing and encourages organisations that provide mentally healthy activities to promote participation in those activities.
