Food Relief, Sustainability & Community Support with Foodbank
HISTORY
Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, operating since 1992. As a non-profit, it sources and rescues food and groceries from farmers, manufacturers, and retailers, distributing them to frontline charities and schools across the country. In 2022 alone, Foodbank sourced 82 million kilograms of food and groceries, equating to over 150 million meals for Australians in need.
PURPOSE AND MISSION
Foodbank’s mission is to end hunger in Australia by providing vital food relief and driving long-term change. Beyond food distribution, Foodbank works to address the root causes of food insecurity through strategic partnerships and advocacy, ensuring no one in Australia goes hungry.
CONNECTION TO COMPASS GROUP AUSTRALIA
Foodbank is committed to reducing food waste and supporting local communities. Through the partnership with Compass Group Australia (CGA), remote sites across the country are empowered to engage with and give back to their local communities. By harnessing CGA’s expansive food procurement, distribution and logistics network, combined with our strong local presence, we deliver scalable, high-impact outcomes: reducing food waste, feeding those in need and strengthening community bonds.
WHAT HAS OUR PARTNERSHIP ACHIEVED SO FAR?
Through our growing partnership with Foodbank, we’ve made meaningful strides in food relief, sustainability and community support. From donating over 250kg of food and repurposing linen to delivering 16,000 meals and supporting nutrition education in remote areas, we are making a difference.

PERTH TEAM SUPPORT
A group of our Perth Support Office team members rolled up their sleeves and spent the day in Foodbank Australia’s Hunger Relief Centre Community Kitchen this July 2025. Working side by side with Foodbank’s in-house chef, they helped transform rescued ingredients from the warehouse into nutritious, ready-to-eat frozen meals.
Over the course of the day, the team prepared and packed just under 1,000 meals. Each one will will then find its way to a home via one of Foodbank’s six branches or through their Mobile Foodbanks across the metro area, reaching families who rely on this vital support network.
When we spend time in spaces like this, it’s a powerful reminder of the role we all play in something bigger, helping create access to food, dignity, and connection for those doing it tough.

NEXT UP…
We are currently in the process of recruiting a chef to go on 12-month secondment to Foodbank WA’s commercial kitchen, paid entirely by Compass Group Australia. Our chef will go to work full time at Foodbank WA, enabling an additional 1000 meals per week to be created, helping those experiencing food insecurity across WA.
