The Position

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Chef to join our dedicated team in Toowoomba. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the successful candidate will bring their ideas and demonstrate strength in creating culinary benchmarks in modern flavours and presentation.

Key Duties

  • Prepare an innovative and exciting menu for residential students  daily
  • Offer guidance and support to the kitchen team where needed, to ensure a great experience for all customers
  • Maintain a customer focus at all times, responding to feedback positively and proactively, implementing great ideas and seeking opportunities for improvement
  • Monitor costs with special regard to portion control, waste minimisation and stock control
  • Ensuring all OH&S compliance is a achieved, adhere to safe work practices and safe food handling procedures

The Person

  • You will be a qualified Chef with Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
  • A passion for producing great food and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Be a team player, but also be able to work autonomously
  • You will have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail and great time management is a must
  • Excellent knowledge of all kitchen procedures and operations
  • Flexible and adaptive nature, able to fit in with changing teams

The successful applicant will be required to provide a current Blue Card (or be willing to obtain one).
