Seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our business on a flexible work arrangement

  • Advise on and negotiate a range of commercial contracts with stable and long-term exposure to many different industries and clients

The Role

We are currently seeking the expertise of an In-House Legal Counsel to join an experienced and collaborative small in-house legal team of 4, advising on a wide range of commercial legal issues. You will manage, negotiate and draft a full suite of contracts and commercial agreements, advise on regulatory issues and governance risks, and assist with other legal issues related to supply chain including modern slavery as well as privacy, data protection and ethics.  Moving out of the Covid world, Compass Group will be endeavoring to grow its service offering with your support. 

The Person

In this high business facing role you will be required to have:

  • A current Australian Legal Practicing Certificate
  • 7+ years’ post-qualification experience
  • Experience in commercial areas either from a leading tier firm or generalist in-house Experience in the resources and contract services industry will be looked upon favorably
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (including services contracts, leases and subcontracts) with appreciation of indemnity and insurance risks
  • Experience resolving disputes/litigation and instructing external counsel
  • A confident, persuasive and cordial communication style
  • Enjoyment working in a fast-paced and commercially minded environment
