CLIMATE The international food industry has a major role to play in reaching Net Zero and we are committed to playing our part in driving the transition to healthy and sustainable food system - read about our Planet Promise below. FOOD WASTE With a third of all food produced globally wasted every year, we are clear about the collective role we must play in helping to drive permanent change across the industry. DEFORESTATION An alarming rate of destruction equivalent to the size of the MCG stadium occurs every 86 seconds. We recognise our responsibility and duty to protect global forests. SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING Compass Group is driving a circular approach to promote the reuse of materials. It is a transition which is underpinned by circular economy principles, such as 'eliminate' and 'recirculate'.

Insight into Action

Fresh produce, grown on site. Our partnership with Biora brings agriculture directly to one of our Australian Defence Force sites through a controlled growing environment. Our site team can now harvest fresh produce within metres of consumption, cutting transport emissions to zero, reducing water usage by up to 90%, and delivering pesticide-free food year-round without seasonal limitations or packaging waste. Fighting Food Waste

We’re committed to eliminating food waste through strategic kitchen operations and data-driven solutions. By implementing LeanPath technology across our sites, we measure and track waste to identify reduction opportunities: read about our efforts here. We also use thoughtful food and menu design to prevent overproduction through precise ordering practices. These integrated strategies empower our teams to make measurable impacts in the fight against food waste.
