Compass Group selected for Hospital Redevelopment Project

The Exemplar Health consortium, to which Compass Group Australia will provide a range of soft facilities management services, has been announced as the preferred bidder on the Frankston Hospital Redevelopment project.

The $605 million project is being delivered as a public-private partnership, with Peninsula Health as the public operator of all clinical services.

The Exemplar Health consortium will now enter into exclusive contract negotiations with the Victorian Government to deliver the Project.

The new facility integrates with the existing hospital and will deliver exemplary built form, technology and sustainability outcomes. It will provide additional capacity and includes inpatient wards, additional theatres, and enhanced mental health services. An expansion of women’s and children’s services will include new maternity, obstetrics and paediatric wards, a women’s clinic and a special care nursery.

In addition, the redevelopment will include a multi-storey car park and upgrades to some of the existing buildings including provision of a five-bed emergency department mental health, alcohol and other drugs hub, and a dedicated paediatric zone.

According to the Victorian Health Building Authority, construction is expected to start in the first half of 2022 with main works complete in 2025.

The Exemplar Health consortium comprises:

  • Capella Capital as sponsor and investor
  • Aware Super as investor
  • Lendlease as design and construction contractor
  • Compass Group Australia and Honeywell as facilities services providers, with Compass Group Australia responsible for waste management, grounds and gardens, pest control, cleaning and security services over the currently proposed 25-year operating period.

This redevelopment will transform health services in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula communities for patients, families and staff. We look forward to the opportunity to be a part of such a project and to working with the State and Peninsula Health to achieve contract close, with Services expected to commence at the end of 2025.
